Maximum group size is 15.) \nJoin local “Rocks Burrow” resident and Fairmount Water Works environmental educator Sandy Sorlien as we tromp the wooded valley of the Wissahickon and Monoshone Creeks. Your guide will put all these sites into a context of the larger Schuylkill River watershed\, the urban water use cycle\, the historic role of dams and mill races\, and the ecology of our local streams. \nRain date: May 9\nPurchase tickets here.

SUMMARY:What Ever Happened to Mill Creek?
DESCRIPTION:To find out\, take a bus tour with Adam Levine and Drew Brown of the Philadelphia Water Department. \nFrom the creek’s headwaters in Montgomery County\, travel through West Philadelphia from Overbrook to the Schuylkill River near 43rd Street. Along the way you’ll discover the industry and farmland that used to be here\, visit parks\, playgrounds and community gardens\, and hear about the consequences of burying a creek in a pipe — and building a city above it. Participants receive a map showing where the creek once ran and an illustrated booklet on its past and present. \nBus leaves from and returns to Overbrook Environmental Education Center. Tour is rain or shine\, but may be cancelled in severe weather. \nCost: $10/person. \nTo register\, please print\, complete\, and mail the registration form to the Overbrook Environmental Education Center.
