SUMMARY:Love Your Park - Spring Day of Service
DESCRIPTION:The LOVE Your Park program is a collaborative partnership between Philadelphia Department of Parks & Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy to steward and support neighborhood parks throughout Philadelphia.   The partnership works closely with neighborhood park friend groups to promote the network of parks across the city and the amazing work the friends groups do. Community engagement in neighborhood parks – whether it be weekly gardening days or concert nights in the summer – is key to maintaining our City’s parks as anchors in our neighborhoods for safe\, welcoming and family-friendly recreation. \nFairmount Water Works is excited to be a participating site!  \nRegistration available soon!

SUMMARY:Science Saturday: "Pulp: Non-Fiction"
DESCRIPTION:Do you wonder how people learned to make paper? There are many connections between water and paper making. Most paper is made from trees\, and trees need water. The process of paper making uses a lot of water and can create pollution\, so keeping rivers clean near paper making factories is important. We will investigate the history (including in Philadelphia) and science of paper making and you can make a piece of your own hand-made paper. \n(Sessions run every 30 minutes.)
