SUMMARY:2016 Walk for Water
DESCRIPTION:The Walk for Water was started by Dr. Elijah Korich\, Founder of Keiyo Soy Ministries\, an organization dedicated to combating the urgent need for clean water in the Kerio Valley in the Rift Valley Province of northern Kenya. This is the seventh consecutive year the walk has been held at the historic Fairmount Water Works (Saturday\, March 19\, 2016). DESCRIPTION:Join Let’s Go Outdoors for a general family-friendly tour of the Fairmount Water Works! \nLearn about amazing grounds outside of the historic site\, including the Fishway Dam\, then head inside for a guided orientation to “Water in our World” and watch a 15-minute film about the building’s important role in Philadelphia’s history.  Let’s Go Outdoors inspires an appreciation for the outdoors through education and recreation programming\, especially among people of color and those that live in city communities. \nAfter the tour\, stick around for our weekly Science Saturday activity that starts at 2pm. \nThe tour is FREE\, but registration is required\, as space is limited. \n\n		\n		\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n

SUMMARY:Science Saturday - "Minerals Rock!"
DESCRIPTION:Drop in every Saturday between 2-4 pm\, and together\, we’ll explore different aspects of our environment during fun and interactive sessions in our water lab. \nThere are some very old and special rocks that are found in Fairmount Park. Head to the Fairmount Water Works and learn about the minerals that make up these rocks and how they formed hundreds of millions of years ago.  Investigate the geology of Philadelphia\, see samples of local rocks and minerals and even learn how the water chemistry of the Schuylkill river has a lot to do with the rocks that it flows over. This Science Saturday will be rockin!
