DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly freshwater mussel measuring event at the Discovery Center on December 16\, 2023! This community science program helps our freshwater mussel propagation program and brings us a step closer to cleaner water for birds and for ourselves. \nThis program is designed for adult volunteers. DESCRIPTION:Come visit on Free Museum Day during the Philly Holiday Experience! We will be offering tours on the hour from 11 am to 2 pm and we will have a fun\, hands-on\, pop-up activity from 11 am – 3 pm in our LAB: \nFish: Playing it Cool around the Holidays! \nDo you wonder what happens in the Schuylkill river in the winter?  What do the fish and other animals do when the water gets cold? Learn about the cold-blooded residents of the Schuylkill river and how they survive the winter.  You will also discover a physical difference between hot and cold water and how that can affect fish in the winter. Be creative and make a fish ornament to take home!
