200th Anniversary Kickoff Event a Success

Dear Friends,

We’ve had many unforgettable moments this year, including the 200th anniversary kickoff event on Thursday, September 10.

Nearly one hundred supporters and partners gathered beneath the Water Works Pavilion to celebrate the occasion. The event included a poetry reading by Beth Kephart; remarks from our friends from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, First Deputy Commissioners Mark Focht and Susan Slawson; Paul Horvat, Commodore of the Schuylkill Navy; and our very own Water Commissioner Howard Neukrug.

The rain that morning served as a reminder of “our inventory”, and the event featured a special water toast, classical music, and tour that left a lasting impression for this celebratory year and beyond.

A special thank you to all of our attendees, friends, and supporters, including: Mayor Michael Nutter, City Council President Darryl Clarke, State Representative Donna Bullock, State Senator Larry Farnese, and U.S. Senator Pat Toomey.

Sincerely,

Karen Young
