Make it A Colorful May at the Water Works!

Science Saturdays
May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. starting every half hour.
River Colors

Learn how water was used in the process of making pigments. We will be making our own paints and then heading out to the open air to the use the FWW as a muse for your own painting. Sit outside and learn how to examine the 3D world and transform it to 2D using watercolors. Capture the day on paper and take the memory home to showcase.

Fountains

Philadelphia fountains are artistic expressions of mythological creatures that represent water, like Logan Square and our newly restored Italian fountain at the Water Works, featuring sea-horses.

Saturday, May 3:
Carnival on the Parkway

Our final event at the Philadelphia Science Festival, The Water Works presents “How much science is there in this glass of water?”

Mommies and Minnows, Fathers and Frys
Hands on discoveries for pre-schoolers, ages 3-5 and their parents. Every Wednesday at the Water Works. Some activities may take place outside, weather permitting. Registration Required!

Art in the Open (AiO)
Saturday, May 17
    11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Family programming related to AiO and the Fountain of the Sea-Horses, and mythical animals of the sea.

Sunday, May 18
Adult tour developed by The Water Works about public fountains as public art and public health.
