A Tribute to Ken Hinde

Everyone associated with the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center is deeply saddened by the loss of our longtime friend and colleague Kenneth Andrew Hinde, who passed away following a sudden illness on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at the age of 71 years old.

As many of you know, Ken—a graduate of Ursinus College—was a gifted writer, lecturer and educator who enjoyed sharing his love of architecture and history throughout his career.

Most recently, Ken was an esteemed member of the Fairmount Water Works staff, where he shared his passion and professional expertise as a gifted educator and tour guide. He brought extraordinary knowledge and excitement when educating people of all ages about the FWW, as well as the history of Philadelphia, from its colonial origins to its present status as a modern city. In addition to working as a lecturer and tour guide at FWW, Ken worked previously with the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, the Bucks County Historical Society, the Foundation for Architecture, the Landmarks Road Scholar program and East Falls Historical Society.

Ken’s family is extending an invitation to his professional colleagues, community associates and friends to attend a celebration of his life on Sunday, Sept. 29th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Aldie Mansion, 85 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown, PA.
