COVID-19 Update from the Fairmount Water Works

Dear Friends,

In an effort to curb the spread of COVID19, non-essential City of Philadelphia government operations are halted, and all City government buildings will be closed to the public, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The CDC has also provided new guidance to cancel or postpone events or gathering of over 50 people for the next eight weeks.

As such, the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center will follow City orders, and be closed to the public, and will postpone, cancel, and reschedule all in-person school trips, tours, events and public programs until further notice.

In the interim, please know:

  • You can get the latest information and guidance about COVID-19 on phila.gov/COVID-19;
  • You can sign up for COVID-19 updates on your phone. Text COVIDPHL to 888-777 to receive free text alerts from the Department of Public Health and the Office of Emergency Management. You’ll get official updates from the City; quick developing, important information; and notification of livestreamed press conferences.
  • While schools are closed March 16-27, students can find free meals and safe spaces throughout the city. The School District of Philadelphia is coordinating with the City’s Office of Children and Families, Parks & Recreation, and many other departments and partners.
  • You can check our website or social media (FacebookTwitter, and Instagram) for specific updates pertaining to the Interpretive Center.

We eagerly anticipate the day when we can safely and responsibly welcome you back to our historic site.

Thank you for understanding.

Be safe,
