“CONFLUENCE”, A New Art Exhibit to Open at Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center on Saturday, May 3rd

The Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center is proud to present their fourth annual spring fine art exhibition. Titled Confluence, this special exhibition is centered on the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers, and the junction where they meet, known as a confluence. Eleven artists, showcasing 26 works of art, will tell the tale of the two rivers and the landscapes they traverse before coming together in South Philadelphia at Girard Point adjacent to the Navy Yard. The theme is represented in drawings, photographs, abstract watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings. Visitors are invited to flex their imaginations enjoying abstract and representational landscapes exploring the expansive ecosystem that is our region’s watershed.

ART: Mickayel Thurin — Self-care Sunday Mixed media 56” X 42”
Mickayel Thurin is a Haitian American artist whose work explores themes of emotion, spirituality, and the human experience through mixed media. Thurin lives and works in Philadelphia and is represented by Gross McCleaf Gallery. "The water in the scene is more than a place of rest—it represents cleansing, renewal, and the ability to manifest and shift one's energy. Water, like vibration, holds frequency and can reflect our internal state back to us. The
act of bathing becomes a ritual of self-care and self-affirmation, reminding us that we are all worthy of gentleness, comfort, and prioritizing our well-being simply for existing."
