River Dreams: History, Hope and the Imagination

Author Beth Kephart will serve as the keynote speaker for the Schuylkill River Heritage Area’s 2014 River of the Year Lecture series with two special presentations on October 14 in Pottstown and October 16 in Philadelphia. Kephart is the acclaimed author of poetry, non-fiction and fiction, including Flow: The Life and Times of Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River(Temple University Press, 2007). She will speak about the place the Schuylkill River has in her own imagination and teaching, the impact rivers have on all our lives, and the legacy of those who have worked to restore Philadelphia’s essential waterways.
