Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour

PWD manages and treats Philadelphia wastewater, which includes the upkeep of more than 3,000 miles of sewer. We use a system of combined sewers in half of our neighborhoods and a separate sewer system in the other half.

The Fairmount Water Works is coordinating three tours, held the last Wednesday of the month, from April through June.

Come and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the Southeast Wastewater Treatment plant. The tour is free, but pre-registration is required. Due to security measures in place, attendeees must meet at the Fairmount Water Works to complete the registration process.

Tour details, logistics, and dates are subject to change. In the event of inclement weather, attendees will be notified via email. Please note: No photography No children under the age of 16 allowed At least 10 registrants are required for a tour to take place. If the minimum number isn’t reached, you will receive an email notice from the Fairmount Water Works, at which time you will be able to register for a future tour.
