Art on the Circuit: “Hydraulica”

Hydraulica seen from below, looking up at the canopy illuminated by sunlight against a blue sky swirled with clouds.

Alison Stigora‘s commissioned piece Hydraulica, has “popped up” in front of the Independence Seaport Museum! Hydraulica was made possible by generous support from The William Penn Foundation and Philadelphia Water.

The cast resin canopy of the sculpture references the shape, contours and elevation change in Philadelphia’s watershed, while interactive lights and sound provide an immersive experience of water flow. Hydraulica exists to help people connect the activity of their daily lives with the life of the watershed they inhabit.

Be sure to hurry to the Independence Seaport Museum for this special installation!
